WORKING HANDS with HIGHTIDE: Philips Ly

As a stationery brand, we are always curious how and what people use our stationery goods for. With this blog series, focusing on the hands at "work" and beyond, we ask five questions about the usage and meaning of the stationery tools to our friends in Los Angeles.

We visited our favorite shop, Homebody in San Gabriel Valley for the newest WORKING HANDS! We asked the shop owner, Philips Ly what stationery goods from Hightide he likes to use.

Q1. What do you do with Hightide stationeries - Workmate Toolboxes, Midori MD notebook in A6 size, Metal Book-stand & penco Baseball Bat Pen?

I use my Workmate Toolboxes to carry my day to day tools like pencils, pens, notebooks, lotion, eraser, hard drive, lip balm, and incense sticks.

I use my Midori MD A6 notebook to make my to do lists, and write down any thoughts or ideas throughout the day. The Metal Book-stand acts as a display in my shop, where it's currently used to display records. The Penco Baseball Bat Pen is for practicing my swing and for signing the big business deals :)

Q2. In our technology driven world, what does it mean to write by hand to you?

If something is important, get it down in writing! I always write down the important things I need to accomplish. Nothing like crossing out a completed task. I also feel like I am more likely to remember something I wrote instead of typed.

Q3. Pencils or Mechanical Pencils?

Mechnical pencils. Sorry analog people. I like clicking and I like that they can be refilled. 0.7mm is my favorite.

Q4. What’s in your pen case? If you don’t use a pen case, how do you store/carry your pens?

My pen case is my Workmate Toolbox, and it carries my writing tools, notebooks, hard drive, lotion & lip balm.

Q5. What is your most favorite stationery?

My favorite stationery is probably the Midori brand of notebooks. I like that they have various sizes and uses, and they always encourage creativity with all the blank space provided. I use them for planning, note taking, and journaling amongst other things.
