Collection: MIZUE MAGAZINE

A collection of Japan’s archetypal art publication Mizue Magazine, considered to have high collectible value. The vintage magazine is rich with photographic images of art that are accompanied by academic texts.

The quarterly publication started during the hype of watercolor works in 1905, as mizue means "watercolor" in Japanese. A decade into publication, the magazine introduced not only watercolors but 20th century Western paintings and sculptures. Works by artists from Japan and Asia were later incorporated, and in its final decades leading to 1992, the magazine (under several name changes) exhibited all types of art in general.
